Breathtaking dome projections now also with the sparks PowerDeck
A new full-dome projection system reopened at the Stuttgart Planetarium - and more than 10,000 visitors came to marvel at it.
On 23 April 2016, the Stuttgart Planetarium finally reopened following extensive renovation works.
“On the first weekend, more than 10,000 visitors came to see the new full-dome projection system which was part of the renovation works,” explains Dr. Uwe Lemmer, head of the planetarium.
The full-dome projection system consists of video projections on the one hand and laser projections on the other hand. Here, LOBO electronic is responsible for the field of laser projections, having already installed the TriDome system in the planetarium. As a special feature, it uses not only three, but four laser projectors, allowing for an even better lighting of the dome as compared to three laser projectors. Therefore, this particularly wide projection format is ideally suited for planetariums.
The sparks® PowerDeck is the actual light source of all six projectors and thus the heart of the entire system. From here, all laser projectors under the dome can be supplied centrally. Thanks to fiber-optic cables, the PowerDeck doesn’t even have to be in the same room, but can also be located in an adjacent room, as is the case in the Stuttgart Planetarium. Thus, no background noise from the ventilation of the dome can be heard during laser shows and spectators can enjoy the show in peace.
Hence, the sparks® PowerDeck is ideally suited for fixed installations as well as for projections that demand particularly high brightness, as it makes spectacular dazzling projections in all colors a reality, generating an overwhelming visual experience.
