LOBO cleans up in Rimini

Although LOBO is the undisputed number 1 at the ILDA Awards – the Oscars of the laser show industry – LOBO was able to astound experts once again this year by means of their distinctly extended superiority.

The International Laser Display Association, abbreviated to ILDA, is an organisation of over 100 of the largest professional laser show companies from some 30 countries. The umbrella organisation of the laser show industry, founded in 1986 in the USA, serves not only to define exchange formats and standards for laser performances, but also offers a forum for the exchange of expertise and the latest technological advances among professionals, all within the framework of an annual conference.

Following on from Brussels and Las Vegas, this year’s event took place for the first time in Rimini, in combination with the leading light and sound trade fair. The highlight was the presentation of the ILDA Awards. This award honours the best laser shows of the year, handed out by competitors for competitors, thus is considered by experts not only to be the laser show industry’s Oscar, but also the most objective yardstick as to the state of laser show design.

Over the past 8 years, LOBO has received more ILDA awards for its outstanding creative performances than any other company worldwide. The German company already possesses no less than 88 of these coveted awards – by far more than any other company in ILDA’s history. Despite this uninterrupted series of successes, the festive awards ceremony on 13 March nevertheless had a sensation up its sleeve. LOBO took top ranks in 7 out of 10 categories, winning a total of 8 awards.

In doing so, LOBO was able to display its expertise in an enormous range of applications and extremely unusual disciplines. In the jury’s opinion, LOBO Studios not only produced, for example, the “best multimedia show” for the Mannheim-based manufacturer of pavers called Voegele, but also the “best atmospheric beam spectacular”, the “best discothèque show” and even the best “innovative laser application” for a vertical dark ride in the Prater park of Vienna.

LOBO’s creative director, Alexander Hennig, said: “We are extremely proud that our many years of hard work have enabled us to climb to the pinnacle of worldwide laser show design. Of course, our thanks must go primarily to our customers in over 60 countries who have continued to place their trust in us over the years, and who have come to appreciate that laser shows from LOBO are a guarantee of the highest possible experience value”.

With so many awards for creative productions, one can easily forget that LOBO is not just a show producer: rather, in actual fact, they are primarily the worldwide leading manufacturers of laser show systems. Correspondingly, LOBO was also represented in over 800m² as the largest exhibitor in the business, in their own hall at the SIB light and sound trade fair. However, even here one could not ignore how proud the Aalen-based lighting wizards were of their ILDA Awards, as the prominently-positioned and especially-erected display case served to testify.
