LOBO sets highlight for the UITP Congress

Exceptionally with little laser and comparatively massive use of slide projection LOBO inspired the participants of the UITP congress.

[Translate to English:] UITP Beam

From 1 to 5 June, the world’s largest congress for local public transport was held in Stuttgart. LOBO electronic was instructed by Daimler-Benz AG with the conception and implementation of a multi-vision show with laser applications for the closing event of the so-called UITP Congress in the Beethovensaal of the Liederhallen. On three screens, the laser specialist from Aalen used slides and lasers to let the congress pass in review. For the grand finale, a three-dimensional beam show with stage fireworks put the ca. 1,500 congress attendees from Germany and abroad, who were otherwise rather reserved, into such a state of euphoria that the entire room stood up and gave standing ovations.

In addition to 150 snapshots from Stuttgart, about 200 images capturing impressions from the event – in particular the atmosphere among the congress attendees – were used for the slide presentation. For this purpose, a photographer accompanied the participants of the congress during all important events. Between events, the photos were developed in Stuttgart and then transported to Aalen by courier, where they were immediately framed and integrated into the show. In order to accomplish a quick yet perfectly music-synchronous programming of the slide shows in such a short time, the show was pre-produced in the LOBO studios with “dummy slides”, which then only had to be exchanged for the original slides.

The laser and slide performance was programmed on LOBO’s transputer-based parallel computer LACON-3 plus, which had been equipped with the software plug-in SCS-1 for the linking of laser and slide technology. In order to control the periphery – such as screens, pyrotechnics, fans and fog generators – the signal converter SICON-3 and the power converter POCON-3 were used.

On location, EKTAPRO 7010 projectors projected onto three screens. In order to have sufficient light output for the comparatively large hall, prototypes of the Bright-Light lamp modules, which have been available on the market for a few weeks, were used, which KODAK has been making available to LOBO exclusively for testing since last fall.
