At the corniche in Abu Dhabi, an imposing, 15 m tall sundial shows the current time. After sunset, a LOBO laser system takes over, with a bright green laser beam pointing out the corresponding position on the clock face.
Every 18 seconds, the upper part of the sphere rotates a little further via satellite guidance – this allows the laser to project the exact time at night.
A masterpiece of optical, mechanical and laser engineering: the satellite-synchronized rotating part of the sundial. The laser itself is located below the shaft of the turret.
