Awards Ceremony in Montréal 2018
LOBO continues to lead the all-time ranking of the ILDA Awards.
Even in 2018, LOBO managed to successfuly assert themselves among 181 entries at the ILDA Artistic Awards. This year's conference of the International Laser Display Association took place in Montréal, Canada and again proved to be a great event honoring artistic achievements in spectactular laser and multimedia shows. For many years, LOBO has been leading the all-time global ranking list of the ILDA Awards – and with a current total of 167 received awards over 30 years of membership, they remain unbeaten.
With the laser beam shows "Calm Night" and "One Thing" in the category "Beams/Atmospherics Show for a Single X-Y Scanner Pair", LOBO and Show Designer Phillip Wendt achieved an excellent second and third place. Wendt's fingerprints are unmistakable, with his extremely delicate sense of timing and melodic mood. The laser effects of the second-place show "Calm Night" practically flow into dream-like lounge music in colorful waves and almost hypnotic effects, putting the audience under its spell. In third place, the laser show "One Thing" works with multi-faceted color accents as well as fan and beam effects, using every forms of design imaginable set to a modern club sound – merging hearing and seeing into perfect unity.
The absolute highlight proved to be the show "The Hunt" by Show Designer Roman Schütz, earning the first place in the category "Beams/Atmospherics Show for Multiple-Scanner Projectors". This show is based on an experimental electronic sound. The core of the creative concept behind this show is made up of very clear arrangements containing deep statements of dramatic composition and beat, conveying a futuristic, imposing impression.
