New laser moving head by LOBO

With the Zaphir, LOBO presents a new generation of laser moving heads. Faster, more precise and more comfortable to operate than all previously available devices.

Based on the successful Varyscan7 moving head by JB Lighting, LOBO developed the next generation of head-mounted laser projectors. Up to now, commercially available mechanics of moving lights were far from being precise enough to meet the high demands of laser projection, but the LOBO engineers were pleasantly surprised by the amazing precision and reliability of this moving head. The high speed of pan/tilt, combined with 450° pan and 270° tilt range, and the automatic position reset made the mechanism the first choice for further developments.

The actual heart of the Zaphir®, however, was created entirely in the development labs of the LOBO engineers.

The Zaphir® is available in two configurations: as a fibre-optic-powered projector for high light output in colour or as a complete system with an integrated extremely long-life 0.8 W solid-state laser source (monochrome green) including dimmer and a high-speed blanking function.

Graphic scanner with 80

The projector data are impressive: Graphic scanner units with 80 x 80° deflection angle, active beam monitoring system and highest display precision even in extreme edge areas. In addition, the projectors are capable of reproducing LOBO's Scanline® graphics and videos. This technology makes it possible for the first time to display filled areas, both as images and as videos, thus opening up previously unknown creative possibilities for the programmer.

For optimal beam brilliance, the Zaphir® has an integrated adjustable collimator, as it is usually used in all other LOBO laser projectors.

Due to its sophisticated cooling management, the Zaphir® is also suitable for extremely high ambient temperatures as well as continuous operation and does not refuse to work after a few hours of use due to overheating, as other devices do.

DDL® digital control

The control is either analogue with 15pin SUB-D cable for the laser data and DMX for the head movement or completely via LOBO's digital data bus DDL®.

In the DDL® version, a single optical data cable is sufficient as control line. All projector data, DMX and serial control data for the external laser light source (if applicable) with fibre optic power supply are also transmitted via the DDL® connection and can be tapped via a standardised serial interface on the Zaphir® and routed to the external laser with a connecting cable.

There is also no need for direct and often cumbersome settings on the unit; all configuration changes can be conveniently made by controllers of the LACON-5® series.

The standardised 15-pin SUB-D interface for projector data also allows users of conventional laser controllers to use the Zaphir® as a projector. The individual adjustment of all controller-specific data (x/y invert, colour delays, pan/tilt invert) can be conveniently carried out via the large LC display using a rotary encoder.

When using different controllers, two completely storable parameter sets are available.

In this configuration, the movement of the head is controlled via standard DMX signal and requires only 5 DMX channels. For convenient control or troubleshooting, the received DMX data can be shown on a DMX monitor directly in the display of the Zaphir®.
