For the first time in two years, there will be a new laser show. In previous years, the laser show enthralled about 50,000 offerta visitors. This year, it is titled “Chronology” and, fitting with the millennium event, lets 10,000 years pass review in ten minutes. In large, bright letters, a countdown already announces the start of the “Chronology” spectacle minutes beforehand. Then, the fast-paced journey through time begins. Starting with the caves of Lascaux, through the Bronze and Megalith Ages, Ancient Egypt, Babylonia and China, the spectators finally reach the times of Christ as the beginning of our era. The journey continues through the times of Vikings, knights, revolutions, discoverers and inventors up to modern times.
As a content bracket, the journey through time is accompanied by a person, accompanying the journey as a symbol for the change of generations from his birth until his death and passing on his knowledge to the next generation. In addition to some impressive effects, this framework story also provides the show with unusual emotional depth for a laser show.
Lobo’s Art Director, responsible for the millennium show, said: “Our phones have been ringing constantly for months. For the turn of the millennium, many clients are planning on purchasing a laser system and there are also some interesting rental jobs on the horizon. For this reason, we decided some time ago to create a tailor-made spectacle for our international client base, which does not only meet the demands of this occasion with its content, but also with its ambitiousness. The show is laid-out in such a way, that it is possible to individualize to the very specific requirements of each customer without spending a fortune. Furthermore, the subject matter of the show is structured in a way that it basically cannot lose its relevance to the present.”
This farsighted attitude was enormously important, as "Chronology" ranks among the most lavish and impressive shows that had ever been seen in the field of show laser. "Chronology" mainly consists of classical cell animations, which means, that 4.800 distinct drawings merged into each other. Every single picture had to be individually drawn, digitized and colored.
The production of this show had been a logistical master piece and had to be organized similar to a movie production. As there had not been more than 3 months’ time left from working out the storyboard up to accomplishing the show, an international team of ten German, English and Hungarian cell animators, composers and show designers had been working in three production studios almost non-stop up to the inauguration of the music fair. To ensure the historical integrity of the show, a historian consulted the team during the design process.
In light of the resonance, Lobo expects having made the perfect move at the exact right moment.
