This year, the laser and multimedia specialist LOBO from Aalen celebrated its 25th company anniversary. Today, LOBO is a globally leading address for laser shows and installations. The company was founded in 1982 by Lothar Bopp, who already offered light and sound installations for discotheques and dancing schools at the time. From the beginning, proprietary developments in the field of control technology were the primary business of the then 18-year-old. Due to negative experiences, Bopp was not satisfied with the available technology in the emerging laser industry. From the beginning, he put his trust in his own system. In 1986, LOBO was already able to offer complete systems manufactured in house and used his significant competitive advantage to conquer many new markets, where laser wasn’t previously used. With continuous innovations, LOBO overtook one competitor after the other and achieved a globally leading position. Time and again, they placed the right product at the right time or expanded their activities to new business segments, such as projection surfaces made from water. There is hardly any award the LOBO show designers haven’t yet received for their creative achievements – first and foremost the ILDA Award of the laser show industry’s global umbrella association. To date, LOBO has received 97 of these “Laser Oscars“, an unrivalled record.
