Following the conclusion of one of the most successful years in the company’s history, the South German laser show specialist recently celebrated its 20th company anniversary. Founded as a one-man-operation by Lothar Bopp on his 19th birthday, independent analysts now consider LOBO to be the global number one in the laser show industry. Contrary to industry trends, LOBO recorded a significant increase in turnover in the fourth quarter of 2001, attributable, among other things, to the market launch of the laser and multimedia workstation LACON-5. From the beginning, LOBO was able to establish LACON-5 as the new standard in German planetariums with installations in the three large planetariums in Stuttgart, Hamburg and the Forum der Technik in Munich. However, LOBO also had a hot winter in the event sector: Be it laser beams above Stuttgart visible for miles, the multi-sensory experience world at the concrete booth at Bautec in Berlin, the Halloween festival in Europapark Rust, present in all media, or the impressive production for the dealer presentation of the new BMW 7 – this fall, the laser magicians of LOBO created spectacular laser shows all over the world. In 2002, sales to the Netherlands, Jordan, the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensured a good start. In addition, LOBO produced the birthday show for the King of Jordan and the opening of the Albabtain Fahd Library in Saudi Arabia on behalf of local laser service providers. In recent weeks, LOBO also completed the installation of a new multimedia attraction for a Chinese amusement park. Recently, the “TriDome” was put into operation in the Hamburg Planetarium. TriDome is a projection method developed specifically for the LACON-5 workstation, facilitating dome-filling projections of laser shows in a previously unseen quality. This technology was first presented to the public at ProLight + Sound in Frankfurt, SIB in Rimini and PALA in Hong Kong. The first programs using this new technology in Hamburg are “Der kleine Tag” and “Deep Space Night Show”.
