While still a student in Aalen, Lothar Bopp founded the company LOBO more than 29 years ago. Focusing on the development of light controls and effect devices at first, Lothar Bopp soon specialized in self-produced entertainment laser technology. With innovative solutions, it only took Bopp a few years to establish his company as a dominating premium supplier in the field of laser and multimedia.
Lothar Bopp has already received numerous renowned awards, including the Rudolph Eberle Award of Baden Wurttemberg and the highest award of the International Laser Display Association for his life’s work.

Achievements in 2010

“sparks” stands for a completely new concept which has been developed from scratch. Thanks to its unmatched brightness it is setting new standards in the industry. In the meantime, sparks systems are used from Europe via the Middle East through to Japan, for especially demanding projects, where previously existing solutions would simply have been too weak or not flexible enough. Despite their dramatically increased brightness, the devices also set new standards in terms of environmental friendliness: In contrast to previously established gas ion lasers, electricity consumption could be reduced to about 1%. With this, “sparks” lasers are probably the most environmentally friendly entertainment medium for mega events.

This innovation was made possible by severing the ties with old traditions, also manifested in a spectacular optical appearance. But design is not only an end in itself, as demonstrated by the IF Product Design Award, the “red dot Design Award” as well as nomination for the German Design Award.

For exceptional technical achievements, this product line of LOBO has received the coveted VR Innovation Award in a competition with a record number of submissions.
