At this year’s SIB in Rimini, the booth of the company Lobo electronic from Aalen stood out from the hustle and bustle of the exhibition not only because of its size, but also because of its special atmosphere. When entering the soundproof, light-flooded area with a size of more than 1,000 m², visitors felt as if in another world. Quickly, rippling water, chirping birds, three bars and, last but not least, the hourly laser show “The Secret of Bermuda” turned the booth into a well-loved and always lively meeting point at the fair.
A three-person, international design team was involved in the programming of the multimedia spectacle, taking the audience on a breathtakingly beautiful, sometimes even fast-paced journey through the mysterious coral reefs of the Bermuda Triangle. For the brilliant finale of the presentation, a beam show with hot Latin rhythms was shown. Even for the innovative laser specialists from Aalen, this show broke completely new ground. For the first time, they did not use conventional projection screens of any kind. Instead, only the latest generation of the tried and tested Water Screens from LOBO’s product range was used. On their thin water film, seemingly free-floating underwater scenes were projected with lasers as well as with slide projectors.
A total of five water screens were mounted on a triangular truss with a width of 25 m, some of which were spatially offset one behind the other, together providing a projection surface of almost 150 m.
In the catch basin, filled with 40,000 liters of water, eight additional distribution segments for a 100 m² large LOBO outdoor Water Screen were installed. In contrast to the indoor version, this outdoor version operates not with the waterfall principle, but rather with the fountain principle. As this type of screen was designed primarily for large open air events, it was mainly used for special effects in Rimini. In order to further increase the depth perception, slide panoramas in soft edge technology were projected onto the rear of the traverse and onto the ceiling. The use of several laser projectors and quick switching between various screen layers perfected the illusion of a three-dimensional, dazzlingly colorful aquarium. The real-time computers installed in the LOBO Laser Truck were not only responsible for the control of eight laser projection channels and 14 slide projectors, but also controlled music-synchronous integration of hall lighting, light pads, pyrotechnics and all water screens.
