With a laser show, LOBO was able to save the traditional mega event at Liechtenstein’s National Holiday on 15 August, after the giant fireworks had to be cancelled three days before the event due to risk of forest fires. Then, the laser show specialists from Aalen were brought aboard and on the same day, the committee in Vaduz announced that a laser show would replace the fireworks. The next day, 16 tons of material were transported to Liechtenstein, were assembly began immediately. A laser truck with 57 Watts white light laser power served as central control station and for projections onto the castle as well as the museum of arts in the center of the city. In the castle itself, two high-performance solid-state lasers were installed in the private rooms of the prince, able to generate widely visible beam effects. Each laser station was equipped with self-sufficient back-up and replacement systems.
Within two nightshifts, a 20 minute long program, tailored specifically to the occasion, was created in the LOBO studios and then adjusted on site to the local conditions. At the request of LOBO, Radio Liechtenstein agreed to broadcast the sound of the event live in order to facilitate easy and decentralized sonication. The responsible Art Director commented: “We were impressed by the support we received in Liechtenstein and by the enormous public interest.” Thanks to the laser performance of the truck, scanline laser videos could be displayed as large-scale outdoor projections on the castle walls for the first time in Vaduz. This process, developed by LOBO, allows for the projection of high-resolution videos with conventional laser projectors.
